It's been a hectic tornado season this year. Here in Kansas the towns of Claflin, Manhattan and Soldier's Creek sustained horrible damages last Wednesday with loss of life. The following day Topeka was spared damages when a hook cloud with rotation came through. Too close for comfort. This is a textbook tornado-producing cloud system, but this time it just put on a show. It caught the wife and I off guard in our car.

That must have seemed a bit too close for comfort! Our kids who are K-State grads were sad about it's being hit. Glad you both were safe --- your sketch speaks volumes!
I remember too well those storm clouds in Topeka. I spent many an afternoon in the basement with my two little girls, a bottle of milk, a box of crackers and a portable radio!
Yikes, John, I'm glad you're all right! I'm just over the line in Missouri, so I know what you're saying...I'm SO tired of watches and warnings. (Though we've really been fortunate, most of ours have fizzled out without needing to go to the basement.) I would NOT want to be caught out in the car!

Wow I'm glad that you both are fine. I live in Georgia, and bo have we had our share this year of tornados. They sure are scary! This is a great illustration that you have done!
