Quilting Run

Had a chance to catch some more rural urban. The wife needed a quilting supply run. We have a choice of Topeka, Lawrence, Eudora, Manhattan, Kansas City, Overbrook and Burlingame. I don't know how she chooses but she has her favorites depending on what she needs at the time. Today it was Burlingame. It's drizzling out and it's cold, but a short road trip is always fun. I stayed in the car to sketch as she shopped. I liked the descending lines looking down the street and it needed to be sketched.

After sketching/shopping, we hit a local restaurant. Aunt B's. They had fresh scratch-made potato soup with a scratch-made dinner roll for me. Wilma had a fresh biorock. I love this place! I talked with the owner couple and they spend a lot of hours in that little shop. We'll need to come back on a Saturday morning for biscuits and gravy.

OMG, we love biscuits and gravy. It's not rare around here by any means, but it's not standard fare either.

Love the sketch. I'm not familiar with that part of the state (originally from Wichita) but I do love the small towns in eastern Kansas. My family are mostly in the southeast part of the state.

loved hearing and seeing your day--around here quilt shops often seem to carry the same materials. some have more some less...and when you find one that has different selections, it becomes the place to go for you, usually. The food sounds delish and the street sketch feels so right......had bisquits and red eye gravy at Circus Circus in Vegas---never had them before--and wow! soooo good...

Don't know a Van Gogh from a tomato? LOL. That should be MY line!

Love your sketch and your use of watercolor. I have a sketch from the beach that I want to add some color. I felt like painting when I got home might yield a better result than using my pens in the field. I hope it turns out as well as this one!

Thanks again for your kind post yesterday.

Take care

Wish I had that many quilt shops to choose from! Nice that you went along to sketch. The potato soup sounds wonderful, along with the dinner roll. But I'll pass on the biscuits and gravy - I want my biscuits with honey, thank you!

So glad you had a nice time. It is wonderful how you can support each other and 'enjoy the ride' as well. Your page is charming and your new blog setup looks sharp.

I am glad I discovered your blog through EDM. Very interesting! I guess what you are doing is an art journal, right? Have to try that sometime.
