She's growing up and I can't stop it from happening. It's a thrill to watch it happen, yet part of me pines for the old days, too. She'll be fine. We'll see about me.
I had a 2-day business meeting in her town recently and crashed at her apartment for the night. That gave me a chance to sketch her chair. On my way home after the meeting I stopped to sketch one of many buildings at her campus. The final piece came when she was home for a weekend and I snapped a picture of her wearing her engagement ring. Then I figured what to babble about. I feel better now.

Oh, cool! I like that chair! Looks very comfortable and cosy and you got it very well. Great sketch! <3
I understand exactly how you feel ... my sons are all grown up and married. But then, along came a grandson, and the joy and wonder found in a little person is back again! And, here's the dirty little not so secret: It's more fun than ever because you don't have all the responsibility for them! nancy
Love this post!
Wonderful journal pages and sketches.
oh the bitter with the sweet - letting something go that we cherish so!! Wonderful Page!!!!
This is a wonderful spread! Thank you for sharing. Our little girl is just four, and I look forward to seeing her grow up, get her own appartmet, get engaged. But one part of me wants her to stay like she is today. Forever.
I know how you feel, my daughter is 19 and it's hard to believe that the years have gone by.
Great sketches, something you will look back on in years to come.
Lovely sketch and sentiments. We are expecting our first grandchild soon so I guess we have gone almost full circle now. Your daughter is blessed!
What a bittersweet page. I think every parent understands your feelings - I know I do.
very poignant
It will be OK Dad. She will always think of herself as Daddy's Little Girl too. It's a rule somewhere I believe.
Great sketch of the ring close-up.
A beautiful and interesting journal you have, John :)
love the post. It's hard when they are all grown up, but now you can look forward to grandchildren! And start all over again!
