Too Much Snow

We've been here for 13 years and this latest snow storm drifted the worst we've ever seen. The snow hit the day before Christmas. December snowfall for Topeka set a new local record. Most of the driveway was fine, but the start and ending of the driveway both had killer drifts that took quite a while to dig out. Makes me think about what to do when I'm all gray and not able to shovel. Some of the neighbors have nice REAL tractors with blade and/or front scoop, or little Bobcats to do the work. Seems overkill . . . until you have drifts like this. The workout felt good, though. I still ate too much but some of the guilt went away from this exercise.

Another great journal page John. We had record snowfall in Oklahoma too - almost 14 inches in Oklahoma City. Not as much here in Stillwater, but still more than we're used to.

Yes, I think they'll always be kids, no matter how old they are - at least to their parents.

yeah big snow is a beast to move - best to stay in till spring ! we expect 18-24" tonight here in Maine (and 6' already on the ground) Probably your storm coming our way! Arizona sounds awfully good!

Oh I don't miss the snow like that! That's the bad thing about snowplows going by. Nice drawing. Hey, the kids are the kids even when they are in their 30's as mine are. My husband got a plow to attach to his ride-around lawn mower which worked pretty well - better than hand shoveling the whole pile.

Golly, 1/2" of snow here paralyzes the entire city. I can't imagine what 19" would do.

People complain about the awful humidity here in the Deep South but at least we don't have to shovel humidity.

And yes, the kids are still kids in their 20s. :)

It's for reasons like this that we packed up and moved from Illinois to Arizona...I rather shovel sunshine! :) Summers are another entire story though...:) I think we really did share the same cold John...Mine is just now coming to an end...LOL:)

I love your journal pages and can certainly relate to your snow (I live in the Mitten). Anyhow, our neighbor across the road plows his snow right across the road into the ditch near our driveway end. Then when the snowplow comes by, our neighbor's snow gets plowed right into the end of our drive and we end up shoveling it out! I don't think said neighbor realizes it - if he keeps it up, we'll have to have a wee chat. lol nancy

Only a few inches of snow here. Love how you fill up your pages with sketches and memories.

Homemade marshmallows?! Could there BE a better topping for guilt-free post-excercise outdoorwork than hot chocolate topped with HOMEMADE marshmallow? WOW! I'm in awe of the wonderfulness of it all. Great post.
